SUNDAY AT WESTMINSTER
Sunday, July 13, 2008
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 The New International Version
The subject of Pastor Jeffrey’s sermon today is: “Sowing Seeds for an Abundant Harvest” The Scripture Readings are: Isaiah 55:10-13; Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Remember during the summer months, Jesus doesn’t take a vacation, he is at WPC each Sunday morning waiting for you to come to worship. Summer Sundays are as important to your spiritual growth as all the other Sundays year round….Come out and sing praises to our Lord.
Summer worship hour is 9:30 am. If you'd like to sing with the choir, please come to rehearse at 9:00 am so that you'll be familiar with the anthem. Everyone is welcome to sing! And afterwards, lets get together for Lemonade and Cookies in the Shade…won’t you sign up to host at least one Sunday this summer? The lemonade is made, you bring the cookies. Everyone enjoys, we can’t lose!
Please note: Due to the closing of Berkeley Florist, if you would like to dedicate flowers to the memory of or honor of a special person or to honor a special occasion, the cost of flowers for each Sunday will now be $20.00. Please see the sign up sheet in the hallway to reserve the date you prefer.
OPERATION WORSHIP: The Jesus Book Store and Tyndale Book Sellers have launched Operation Worship, which has the goal of sending 100,000 bibles with personal messages of encouragement for our Troops in 100 days. These bibles will be handed out by chaplains to the troops on active duty where ever our people are serving (i.e.) Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Abbie and Bev wish to thank all of you that ordered the Bibles for the enlisted service men. The Jesus Book Store in Greenbrook has filled our order for 46 bibles to be shipped to California for disbursement. The bibles are now available for your signature in the fellowship room and please check your name off the list next to the box after you have signed the bible or bibles you ordered, please place the signed bible on the table next to the box, we will return them to the Jesus Book Store for shipment. If you haven’t signed your bible or added a personal dedication of your choice please do so before the end of worship today so we may get them back to the store for shipment on Monday. If you missed the opportunity to order one or more bibles, we would be pleased to pick them up for you on Monday and bring them back to WPC for your signature or inscription as you wish. The cost is $4.99 each, please see Abbie or Bev.
Have you picked up your new Westminster phone directory yet? Please remember to take yours today and be sure to check off your name on the list…They are on the table outside the sanctuary. Thanks!
VBS is coming! VBS is coming! July 28-August 1! Will you be there to experience the joy of joining over 100 children and teachers in this awesome venture? There is an unbelievable excitement when you walk through the door and you immediately catch the spirit of praise, teaching, and activities that glorify the Lord. The children donate coins throughout the week and this year the money collected will be given to the family of Kyle Kramer to help with all the medical expenses they are incurring as Kyle battles leukemia. Kyle loves VBS and it is hoped that he will have a chance to visit during the week.
There is an exciting summer High School ministry at Westminster called THE OASIS, (Offering a Savior in Service). It is a ministry that involves day trips, fun activities and discussion on what it means to live by faith as high school students. The study is led by Jill Pfund and Ray Paton. For more information, please sign up on the bulletin board, or join The OASIS group on Facebook.
Your Mission Committee would like to remind you to buy your supermarket gift cards on Sunday, this is a vital fund raiser for our mission work. Also, Mission is collecting cleaning supplies and paper products during the month of July. Please put your donated items in the basket in the hallway for delivery to the Elizabethport Center.
